Cultural Diversity represents everything that is good in The Human Experience, and serves as a constant reminder that we are Members of a Global Community.. In recognizing that, it allows us to focus on those things that are important to us as a Global Family, while deemphasizing those things that are not.."We Are Our Brothers Keeper"

I think Cultural Diversity is over rated in some people eyes. Most people are still living in the past. We must get to know one another. It's the only way to move forward. Sometime it's harder trying to deal with your own culture. We will always have our differences, but that's part of life. It takes more than studying Cultural Diversity. You must experience it yourself and don't ever forget it's always time for a change.

I agree that some people dont want to get to know you. Can't you see it on their faces when they pass you by? I personally know some people that wouldn't attempt to even make eye to eye contact with you. Is it a Fear of other Culturers? Is it a Fear of Uncertainty? Or is it that some people live in a box and are afraid of the Unknown...Whatever the case may be...the need for community sponsored events such as neighboorhood meetings, school events etc...are elements needed to foster cultural diversity. In case you didnt know...there IS CULTURAL DIVIDE within OUR OWN RACE.

It's called the HAVES vs THE HAVE NOTS...

Lets face it...some may experience anxiety of meeing people their not accustomed to....HOWEVER CHANGE has to begin somewhere, why not with the person in the mirror? It's always easy to judge others before yourself...

GB.. You might want to take an indirect approach as a means to break The Ice with Your Neighbors..Try finding some things that Your Neighbors and you have in common..Such as, schools that are attended by Your Children..Are You Members of The PTA or PTO ? Is there a Favorite Sports Team that you both support. By concentrating on those things that you have in common, it will overshadow any differences that might serve as Wedge Issues.

Cultural Diversity in my eyes is a term for media use because it is non-existent in my community. It seems as though everyone may speak to be neighborly, but getting to know each other personally is a little far fetched. Although efforts have been made on my behalf to extend invitations- I think the fear of the unknown is a major obstacle in this process..
